Why the name "The Bearded Babies"?

For the passionate Rory Gallagher fan the name is obvious, as it is taken from the first line of Rory´s epic song Tattoo´d Lady: 

"Tattoo´d lady, Bearded Baby, they´re my family..."

Asle, the guitarist The Pipeline has been a devoted Rory fan since he first heard  Rory´s version of "Messin´With The Kid" on the Norwegian radio in 1972.  Asle talked Jan-Erik  into going to the "Cork Rocks for Rory" in June 2008  and Jan-Erik became a true Rory fanatic as well.

While Jan-Erik and Asle were in Cork, Ger Kenneally, the man behind "Cork Rocks for Rory" planted the insane idea in Asle´s head that Oslo should have it´s own Rory tribute band and Rory Gallagher Tribute.

To cut a long story short;

The Bearded Babies was formed in the autumn of 2008 and Oslo did  have it´s first Rory Gallagher tribute in February 2009. Since then there has been two successful tributes in 2010 and 2011, and the 2012 Rory Gallagher tribute is on it´s way!
