First; why "The Bearded Babies"?

For the passionate Rory fan the name is obvious of course; Taken from the first line of Rory´s epic song Tattoo´d Lady:  "Tattoo´d lady, Bearded Baby, they´re my family..."

The story of the Bearded Babies has it´s background in the pub-rock band The Pipeline. Asle, the guitar player in The Pipeline has been a devoted Rory fan since he first heard Messin´With The Kid on the Norwegian radio in 1972.  After having tried to convince Jan-Erik, drummer in The Pipeline, ever since that Rory was really something special, it was not until Asle talked Jan-Erik into going to the

"Cork Rocks for Rory" in June 2008 that Jan-Erik became a true Rory fanatic. The Glasgow tribute in September 2008 did not do anything to reduce Jan-Erik´s growing interest in Rory.

While in Cork, Ger Kenneally, the man behind Cork Rocks planted the insane idea in Asle´s head that Oslo should have it´s own Rory tribute. To cut a long story short; Oslo did  have it´s first Rory tribute in February 2009, and the next in February 2010!

Jan-Erik and Asle love playing in The Pipeline. But, even if The Pipeline plays one or two Rory songs it really does not give enough room to play as much Rory stuff as Jan-Erik and Asle would like to. What else then than to put a dedicated Rory tribute band together?  

We started in October 2008 with Edgar Johansen on bass.

One year later Edgar left the band, but shortly after we were lucky to find Olaf Hjellum as a very good replacement!

Our next big goal is to play at the annual Rory Gallagher tribute, "Oslo RoryNight",at the pub "Herr Nilsen" in Oslo, Norway on the 5th of February 2010, and on Notodden RoryNight on the 13th of March.

We played 3 gigs at the Ballyshannon

(Rory´s birthplace in Ireland) Rory tribute festival in June 2009, and we are invited back for the 2010 tribute in JUne next year.

We also played at the Rory tribute "A Taste Of Rory" in Glasgow in September  2009 as well as two gigs at "The Clutha Vaults" music pub in Glasgow.
